Registration for the Game Programming Year 4 entrance exam is open to students with a Bachelor’s degree in the field of video games or programming.

The exam consists of a general and specialised culture test, two creativity tests and a motivational interview during which the candidate presents his/her portfolio. The deadline for registration is midnight on 14 April 2023. An invitation is sent by e-mail a few days before the date of the exam. The results are sent by e-mail a fortnight after the exam.

If your application is accepted, you will have to fill in your application form within the deadline announced in the email (about two weeks), otherwise your place will be offered to a candidate placed on the waiting list.

CONTENT OF THE ENTRANCE EXAM

MCQ TEST CULTURE & ENGLISH

⌛ 15 minutes | COEFFICIENT 10%

The test is designed to assess your open-mindedness and curiosity rather than your erudition. You will find different themes such as current affairs, politics, geography, history, art, sports in the general cultural part. A specialized cultural section focuses on the video game sector. Finally, there are questions in English to assess your level in the language of Shakespeare.

TECHNICAL TEST: REALISATION OF A PROJECT ON UNITY

⌛ 2 HOURS 30 | COEFFICIENT 30%

Based on a brief, you will be asked to produce a video game prototype on Unity. The computer is provided by the school if you take the exam onsite.

MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEW + PORTFOLIO

20 MINUTES | COEFFICIENT 60% 

The objective of the interview is to measure your creativity, your interest in our program and your knowledge of the video game sector. This moment also allows us to get to know you and to discover your creations, your universe, with the help of your portfolio. The test is eliminatory if the candidate obtains a mark below the average.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAM?

CREATE YOUR FILE
To register, you will need to upload an ID photo of passport format. You will also need to write about your motivation and your interests. So be sure to prepare them beforehand.

CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT
Go to the registration form and follow the instructions. Your registration will only be effective after validation and payment of the exam fee. An official invitation will be sent to you at least 8 days before the exam.

TAKE THE EXAM

On the day of the exam, you will need your identity card. At the interview, present your portfolio and your last three report cards. For the tests, make sure you have a computer, a camera and a good internet connection.

CAN I TAKE THE SAME EXAM MORE THAN ONCE?

A candidate who has failed the exam may retake it the following year.

CAN I ENROL IN THE GAME PROGRAMMING COURSE AFTER GRADUATING FROM HIGHSCHOOL?

The Game Programming programme is accessible from the third year. To access it, you can :

➔ Join us after 2-3 years of studies specialized in development / programming

DO I HAVE TO BRING MY OWN EQUIPMENT?

Computer equipment is provided by the school during the tests (if exam onsite).

WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS FOR REIMBURSEMENT?

You have a legal period of 14 days from the date of your payment to change your mind about your purchase. To exercise your right of withdrawal, please contact RUBIKA at contact@rubika-edu.com.

HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE ACCEPTED?

There are no precise figures, it depends on the volume of places available.

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS FOR THE PORTFOLIO?

Your portfolio should reflect your personality and allow the jury to evaluate your work capacity, your curiosity and your imagination. You will be asked to present your projects or video game concepts.

HOW CAN I BEST PREPARE FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAM?

➔ Create and experiment : there are many online resources to learn about game design for free.
➔ Cultivate yourself :
watch films, news reports, read books, etc. This will feed your imagination and creativity. Play a wide variety of games, not just the games you like: analysez leurs points forts, essayez de décrire leur gameplay par écrit!
➔ Find out about the professions and techniques related to the field you want to work in.
